Using SEO Successfully

You might be thinking that real profit isn’t sustainable through SEO. Google is too aggressive against it, any surefire profit schemes that really work are going to be killed off as soon as they become widely known, right?

You dream of making it big with SEO but it seems out of line with the cold hard reality….

But, in all honesty, being successful with SEO strategies isn’t really any sort of obscure hidden secret, nor is it something that gets trampled out regularly by the major search engines. No, it’s just a matter of knowing the value of the proliferation of backlinks made visible with the right keywords as internet signposts.

You’ll likely hear a lot of falsehoods about SEO marketing that deserve a good hearty debunk or two. For example:

‘The page you’re linking to needs a high ranking!’ So long as the actual homepage for the linked page has a good rank, that will ‘trickle down’ to all the sub-pages. You don’t need to worry about a great rank for every single individual piece of your site.

Ranking your site depends on the density of the related keywords!’ That’s also false. Simply having the keywords and backlinks to anchor and proliferate the visibility of your site is more than enough, the actual content doesn’t need to be crammed full of keywords too. The keywords are signposts, not the content itself! If you try to shove them into your main content with unrealistic frequency, you’ll end up with a poor content, spammy site that no one wants to spend time at.

‘Backlinks have to come from thematically relevant sites or they have no value!’ This is absolute bosh. The people running search engines know just as well as anyone else that links will pop up in semi-randomized fashion more often than not. People like more than one thing, don’t they? If you go shopping for jerky, that doesn’t mean you’re never interested in shopping for lettuce! Search engine companies take into account the broad interests of individuals, and focus on finding volume over relevance.

‘Sites on Google and other major search engines have an incredible number of links supporting them, and there’s no way you can possible compete with them in a timely manner!’ This has a seed of truth – some of them do, in fact, resort to hundreds and thousands of links, but you don’t have to follow in their path at all if you don’t want to. Remember, you’re not in competition with every popular web site, just the ones that use the same keyword signposts that you do. When considering the competition, consider only sites that operate in your same industry or sphere of influence.

If you bother to spend a bit of time and energy tracking them down, you’ll come across more places to plausibly post backlinks than you’ll ever even need to begin with. One of the most common ways to backlink is simply to post the links in user profiles. Now take a moment to think about how many sites have profiles with an ‘about me’ or other generally descriptive section. Yeah, you’re not going to run out of backlink real estate any time soon.

Keep an especially careful eye out for sites that allow for blog articles. They’re particularly great for posting content with a nearly limitless amount of links in each major piece of text. All these things will take you plenty of time and energy, but considering how long a good backlink network will last you, wouldn’t you say it’s worth it?
